THE ART OF BRICK-MAKING

The students of Grades- 6 and 7 were taken on a field trip to " Veeranjaneya Brick yard" near Kavalapadu.  The Students paid a visit and got to see different parts of the brick manufacturing units and they experienced the process of brick manufacturing starting from preparation of clay, moulding, drying and burning in brick kilns.There Mr. M.Srinivas, the owner of the factory explained the process to the students. He showed the materials such as black, red and Sandy clay, husk and logs of wood. First they keep the three types of clay in an area and add water, after that they use tractor to mix husk and wood flour. They make bricks with that clay by using brick moulder boxes.  After  two days the bricks are dried under the sunlight for 10 days in a kiln after drying they burnt them for 10 days to make the bricks strong. The visit was fruitful for the students to learn more about bricks as part of their subject, its properties, materials and manufacturing techniques. It also helped them to know about the technical details and types of soils.
